Month: March, 2009
It feels like we are just waiting for this snow storm we’ve been warned of for a week now. The snow just began. The children each wanted to take a warm bath. We went out and got a few movies for tonight & I’ll bet at some point mama will be asked to make hot chocolate and maybe some popcorn.
The girls were sweet enough before they got in the bathtub to help me with these:
My youngest has a really strong maternal instinct. She knows that she wants to be a mama when she grows up. Although she plays with dolls, she doesn’t play with them an awful lot. The thing is that she is the kind of child that will come over and stroke your face and looking lovingly into your eyes – kind of like a good mama does.
A friend sent me a list of questions to ask her, which I did and the results are below:
1. What is something mom always says to you?
I love you
2. What makes mom happy?
When I tell her I love you.
3. What makes mom sad?
When I lie and do something bad
4. What does your mom do to make you laugh?
She makes funny faces
5. What was your mom like as a child?
*giggles* no answer
6. How old is your mom?
What number family? 30′s? (I was so relieved that she didn’t put me in the 50′s family!)
7. How tall is your mom?
8. What is her favorite thing to do?
giggle and laugh with me.
9. What does your mom do when you’re not around?
10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?
11. What is your mom really good at?
making clothes for me
12. What is your mom not very good at?
13. What does your mom do for her job?
14. What is your mom’s favorite food?
I don’t know
15. What makes you proud of your mom?
when she does stuff for me
16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?
Velma, she’s smart
17. What do you and your mom do together?
We draw on eachother (with face paints and body crayons)
18. How are you and your mom the same?
We have the same family
19. How are you and your mom different?
you are older than me
20. How do you know your mom loves you?
she always says that
21. Where is your mom’s favorite place to go?
Disneyworld (Amen, sister!)
This weekend I had the honor of photographing my niece and nephews. I cannot get over the amount of great shots we got – mostly because they are so amazingly photogenic. All three of them. And just think, later this year there will be another to photograph. I love you all so *so* much.
My oh my, the weather just isn’t changing fast enough for the little girls in my house. Little Lulu wanted so badly to play outside this afternoon. ”Mama, mama, can I go play on the swings?”
“Yes, of course, Lu. I”m going to finish putting the groceries away. Have fun.”
About ten minutes later, I looked out the back window and sweet thing is sitting on the swing crying. Full out crying.
“Lu!! What’s wrong?”
“I was trying to do a flip on the swing and my feet came around and landed in the mmmuuuuddddd! Mama!! these are my FAVOORRRITEE shoes!”
Very concerned about the shoes was she.
The shoes are drying in the laundry room right this moment. I fear they won’t come clean. And that will be the drama for the weekend. And right there, my friends means that things are good. That’s the drama – can’t ask for better than that.
Hair is very important to Lulu. Very. She loves things to put in hair, different styles of hair – everything hair. Mostly, she likes to leave it down. That’s hard for a mama.
Last night Papa & Mak were out so after Livy’s bath I decided I would put curlers in her hair. The problem is that I couldn’t find them. I think during one of my cleaning frenzies, I threw away all of the sponge curlers. I decided to make due. I told her that we’d french braid it while it was wet & then in the morning it would be all kinds of kinky. She was all about it.
This morning when we took the braids out, it was really, really kinky. And she was really, really excited to wear her new do to school. I was lucky enough to get some photographs of her this afternoon.
My florida photographs are coming slowly but surely. We’ve been so busy since we’ve been back, I just haven’t had time to go through them all. And….there is trouble brewing. I can’t find about 50 photographs from our trip. I downloaded them onto my external hard drive and, well, I cannot find them. I’ve probably mislabeled them. I’ve got hundreds of thousands of photographs so unless I find a really good way to search for them, I fear I’ve lost them for the time being. And that’s really, really sad
Isn’t my mom beautiful?
